Standing on the Side of Love

Annual Religious Witness
for Marriage Equality
Tuesday, February 14, 2012
WHAT?
Every year since 2006 faithful couples have gone to the courthouse to attempt to register their long term partnership as a marriage. They are refused. Minister, Pastors, and congregational leaders pray for and support these couples, and their friends and families come to cheer them on "I see it as an annual renewal of our vows," said one couple in 2011.
WHY?
Some religious voices actively working against equality in Virginia are loud, but there are many other faith traditions whose principles demand equality for all people. At this gathering we will come together to raise our voices in support of GLBT couples and all people who are denied equality under the law.
WHEN?
Valentines Day, when else? The Richmond event will take place at noon. The Fairfax event will take place at 1:30 pm. The schedule for the Fairfax event can be found here.
WHERE?
At the courthouses in Richmond (John Marshall Courts Building, 400 N. 9th St, Richmond, VA) and Fairfax (Fairfax County Courthouse, 4110 Chain Bridge Road, Fairfax, VA) and maybe your local courthouse too. Contact us to help set one up in your area.
